Colegio Mayor del Cauca, created by Legislation 48 of 1945, began its academic work on 13 November of 1967. In 2008, Resolution 5858 was expedited through which its academic nature was modified to UNIVERSITY INSTITUTION. It is a Public Establishment of departmental order, of academic nature, with legal status, administrative autonomy, independent patrimony, and domiciled in the city of Popayán.

Herein, we present an academic offer that satisfies the regional needs through its three Faculties, thus:Faculty of Art and Design: Technology in: Draftsmanship in Architecture and Engineering, Professional Programs in Architecture and Visual Design and its Outreach Program Arte Mayor offering: Music: classical and electric guitar, piano, violin, drums, musical grammar; Faculty of Social and Administration Sciences: Technologies in: Business Management and Commercial and Market Management with its preparatory (propaedeutic) cycle in the Professional Program of Business Administration, Financial Management with its preparatory cycle in the Professional Program of Financial Administration and the Education Program for Work and Human Development of the English language; Faculty of Engineering: Technology in Software Development, Professional Program in Computer Engineering, and the Graduate Program: Specialization in Information and Database Administration.

The Institution has three Campuses: the Cloister of the Incarnation, declared National Monument and architectural heritage of the city of Popayán; Casa Obando, a colonial house that preserves the colonial style characteristic of the historical houses o f Popayán; and the Bicentennial building, which integrates its façade to the urban proposal of the city’s historical sector harmonizing it with modern construction in its interior with big spaces accompanied by sunny and well-lit corridors and classrooms that invite to study and reflection.
